Both our First Team and Reserve sides are in Cup action this weekend. It’s Round 2 of the GFA Senior Amateur Cup and both sides will be looking to build off last weekends 6 point Saturday at The Field.
First Team
The first team were due to travel to The Lawns to face Cribbs ‘A’, however our opponents are unable to host the fixture. League competition rules dictate no other games can be played at the venue when a Southern League fixture is scheduled. And so we host the fixture at The Field in what is the first game of our First Team’s GFA Cup run.
Last season saw us enter the competition in the first round courtesy of a 4-3 victory over Greyfriars Athletic. The second round proved to be a step too far as Wessex Wanderers handed out a 5-0 defeat to a much changed Almondsbury side.
Cribbs ‘A’ have started their cup campaign in round 1, proving to have far too much for Patchway Town with a 7-1 home victory. Their league form leaves room for improvement with just the 1 win in 5. Nevertheless a tough fixture is expected for Ash Coles’ side.

Reserve Team
The Ressies have no such problems with opposition pitch availability as Wick host the Ressies second game of the competition. The First Team made the same trip just a couple of weeks ago. A number of the Ressies side made the trip to support as there was no fixture that weekend for Jack Dunsford’s side.
Round 1 saw the Ressies face Saints Old Boys in what was a close encounter, finishing 2-1.
Wick have started their season in free scoring form, scoring 17 goals in just 7 fixtures. This form runs true as Wick beat Stoke Gifford Reserves 5-3 in Round 1. No doubt they will be a formidable opposition for The Almonds once again.
